Why I do what I do

For years I worked with animal leather. I cut every piece by hand. I knew exactly where that material came from, and over time, that became impossible to ignore.

It wasn’t a revelation. It was a discomfort that grew quietly inside me until, one day, I could no longer look away.

So I looked for another way. I researched, I traveled, I asked uncomfortable questions.

I wanted to find something that looked like leather, that lasted like leather, that wasn’t plastic disguised as skin, and that hadn’t cost any animal its life. That last part, especially.

I found it. Apple leather does exist. Palm leaf fiber does exist. These are real technical materials, not experiments.

From there, the Belén Dols brand started to become what truly represents me.

I don’t design to convince anyone of anything. I don’t judge what anyone else chooses to do. I just believe you can walk through this world with style and dignity without it costing any animal its life.

If that resonates with you, welcome to my home.

Take care,

Belén

The materials

Two materials.
Two principles

The first and most important: nothing that has cost an animal its life

The second: The same elegance and quality as leather

Material 1

Apple based vegan leather

It’s made from the waste left over from processing apples for juice. The skins, the seeds, the pulp, everything the food industry throws away. It becomes a strong, flexible material with a feel that surprises anyone touching it for the first time.

Material 2

Palm coating

Every year, the dry leaves of palm trees are pruned to keep the tree healthy. Those leaves would normally become waste.
